Who Am I?

Hello! I am Samantha and I am a student with the University of Arizona Global Campus.  I am working through a Bachelor’s degree in IT to further expand my skillsets and marketability.  I could be considered a younger Gen X or an Elder Millennial – I fall steadfastly into the Xennial timeframe.  As such, I was around through the start of the internet for commercial use.  I grew up a Motorola brat with a father that worked in IT for Motorola for many years – and he even taught Intro to Computers at the local community college.  As such, I grew up always having a computer and working with them.  I remember our old DOS run IBM machine and the fancy Gateway PC with Windows 3.1 that they laughably told us was the last PC we would ever need to buy. I also helped my father grade papers for his college students.

As I grew up and obtained my Bachelor’s in Business and later, an MBA, I found myself working in the tech industry.  However, my role is not technical.  I consider it tech adjacent.  I handle services suppliers and manage the flow of engagements through the company.  As I work through this degree in IT, I am hoping to further understand the technical aspects of the work I am directing as well as increase my marketability in the field.  This will, ideally, open up new opportunities in the industry I work in.  I look forward to learning more in general, I consider myself a lifelong student, always looking for something new to learn to keep my brain engaged and flexible.  I look forward to this journey!
